Anxiety & CBT
CBT
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is very much about changing the way you feel by changing the way you think. Classical CBT focuses less on emotion and more on 'thinking,' but contemporarily CBT appears to integrate emotional components as well.
CBT is generally very effective for anxiety and depression, obsessions, self-esteem and eating disorders, and has utility in treating symptoms of trauma and PTSD.
CBT with me might look like trying to shift your thinking to a more realistic perspective versus catastrophic or extreme thinking. CBT work with me can also be about managing a relapse of anxiety, an obsession or an addiction by creating a plan that involves not just changing thoughts but changing behaviours and developing greater emotional awareness.
I integrate CBT with other therapies depending on what might benefit you at that time or I can provide classic CBT with worksheets if interested.
